Law of Attraction and Christianity
Ever since I came across the law of attraction a few years ago, I’ve been thinking about how it relates to Christianity.
I have been a Christian all my life. I was born in a Christian home. When I became an adult, I had the option to rethink and decide if I should continue in one of the biggest faith in the world or choose another faith.
Choosing to continue being a Christian isn’t really about belonging to one of the biggest groups in the world. For me, Christianity is not a religion but a way of life.
As someone brought up in a Christian home, I was taught a lot of Christian values which are very useful for me now that I am an adult and have my own family.
There are physical and spiritual things in this world.
I strongly believe all the things we see around us did not just come about on their own.
I believe God created them.
The water bodies, the air, the sky, milky way, the wildlife, plants, forest, deserts, and we humans. I strongly believe these were all created by someone who is more powerful than any human being.
This entity is God and HE’s the supreme being.

God and The Law
As someone who believes in God. I also believe God created the world with the physical law of nature and mental laws.
The most common of God’s laws in the Bible is the Ten Commandments that God gave to the Israelites. The Ten Commandments contain the core principles God wants to govern the people of Israel.
The Ten Commandments was eventually summarised by Jesus to just two sentences in Mark 12:30-31;
- Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.
- Love your neighbour as yourself.
The major benefit of any law is to maintain order and resolve disputes. This will help improve people’s lives.
In some ways, God’s laws are connected to His promises. When we obey laws, things run smoothly in society. The same is applicable to an individual’s life.
When we consider God’s promises in the Bible, they always have a condition attached to them.
I found the Bible fascinating because the Bible relates to both practical and spiritual.
Some Christians think they can monopolize God by thinking the promises in the Bible are only meant for them. This is far from the truth.
Regardless of your faith, if you meet the condition attached to any promises in the Bible, you can be sure that the promises will be fulfilled in your life.
For example,
Proverbs 22:29, “Seest thou a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.”
That is the word of Solomon, which is also the word of God and it is a promise.
Regardless of race, gender or age. If you are diligent in your work, you will be outstanding.
Stay with me and I will explain why the law of attraction is not in conflict with Christianity and the Bible.
Law of Attraction and Christianity
Following on from the explanation above in the section about God and the law. When we follow God’s instructions and obey His laws, we can attract into our lives whatever we want.
The Bible is full of promises about all subjects of life in the three pillars of human needs – health, wealth, and relationship.
Whether you want money, happiness or love, you can attract them all if you apply the words of God in the Bible.
In my opinion, the Bible verse that summarises the law of attraction is,
“Jesus looked at them and said; with man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” – Matthew 19:26
If all things are possible with God, that simply means, when you have a desire and pray about it, it will surely come to pass.
The law of attraction has a lot to do with believing that something will happen. For example, if you want to attract money to yourself, you have to first believe.
There are a lot of Bible verses that support using your mind.
“For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he” – Proverbs 23:7
I also love where the Bible states,
“Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.” – Mark 9:23
All creation is complete, everything we want is already here in this world.
To think about attracting what we want is not in any way a conflict with Christianity belief.
There is an element of visualization in the law of attractions.
Here is another wonderful Bible verse that relates to getting anything you want by declaring them.
“Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure.” Isaiah 46:10
And my favourite Bible verse is that which refers to Abraham,
“(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.” – Romans 4:17
Watch the part highlighted in orange colour. That is a very powerful word that can help you attract what you want as a Christian. Things that have not yet existed, you call them to exist.
I am a first-generation immigrant in the UK. While still in my home country in Nigeria, I used to go to my university library to play around with UK universities prospectus. I would look at the colourful prospectus with images of the university environment.
In a way, it was a process of forming the mental image in my subconscious mind. As God would have it, I eventually attracted into my life what I was thinking about and visualizing.
I ended up at a UK university to study for my Master’s degree.
I saw myself in the UK before arriving, then circumstances and people came along to make it happen.
Misconception about the Law of Attraction
The law of attraction was popularized by the movie ‘The Secret’. The criticism I have about ‘The Secret’ is that they made it sound simple as if you can just sit without doing anything and what you want will be attracted to you.
How to make the Law of Attraction work
The simple truth is that the world works on cause and effect. You have to be the cause before you will see the effect.
My opinion might go against what people who preach the law of attraction preaches. I believe you have to also need to put in some work to make the law of attraction work.
The law of attraction is just the spiritual part which is very important. You have to believe, think right. Think about what you want and not what you don’t want.
A lot of people focus too much on what they do not want and they wonder why things are not working in their life.
Everything that happens in the physical world is as a result of things that happened in the spirit.
This is the reason why it is important to first take care of our mind, how we think.
We then need to take action. In my example above about how I travelled to the UK. I did not just sit down and hope UK universities will magically send me offer letters without applying.
In fact, I applied to up to 10 universities and the majority of them offered me a place. I had to think of creative ways to get someone who would sponsor me. And to eventually travel to the UK, I had to apply for a visa.
How to Attract Money
Let’s use an example of someone who wants to attract money into their life.
To attract money, you need to first believe that there is an abundance of money in the world. Trillions of dollars are being circulated everyday, this is the reason why I say there is an abundance of money.
What about opportunities to make money. There are countless opportunities currently available in the world. The good news is that we can not use up all the opportunities to make money. New opportunities emerge every day and every year. The bad news is that you have to find an opportunity to believe in and work towards.
Believe is the starting point, then you need to take action.
I am not ruling out the aspect of using money affirmations and setting a target of the specific amount of money you want.
One of my favourite money affirmation is,
“large sum of money comes to me easily and quickly.”
The most important part of the process is taking action.
Money is not to be won, it is to be earned.
You have to earn it by providing a product or service to the marketplace.
Money is the net product of providing a product or service to the marketplace. To earn money, you need to design a product or service that the world needs. Once you do this, you need to believe that people in the marketplace will pay you for your product.
Anyone that wants to attract money must believe in the fair exchange of money.
It is important to research and offer products the marketplace want.
People often ignore the fact that failure is an important part of success. Sometimes you need to try a lot of things before one of them will work. This is why you must believe in your chosen endeavour.
Successful people always believe in the law of attraction but they put in a lot of work to attract things they want into their life.
The Bible verse that came to mind is,
Proverbs 24:16
“For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again”
Don’t be scared of failure, try various business ideas and you will see how money will be attracted to you.
