And in a time when we’re watching videos for up to six hours per day, your channel has a lot of potentials. This is why you should look for effective ways to grow your YouTube channel.

If you want to make an impact on YouTube, use as many promotional techniques as possible. These tricks are great for promoting your YouTube channel and maximizing your viewership.

It doesn’t matter if you’re just getting started or want to see your subscriber numbers continue to rise.

Video marketing has been on the rise over the past few years, becoming more popular and accessible for brands.

While popular sites like TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram, as well as your website, are great places to advertise.

Starting a YouTube channel may be the best place to show off your brand. Individuals spend one billion hours per day watching videos on the YouTube platform.

YouTube is often referred to as the world’s second-largest search engine. With a few tricks and the fundamentals of creating engaging videos, it can help you quickly get your content noticed and increase engagement.

Here are the best tips to effectively grow your YouTube channel.

Effective ways to grow your YouTube channel

  1. Commit to publishing to YouTube multiple times per week

Recent reports have shown that YouTube channels that post more often per week do much better and receive more recommended views.

Unless you’re just starting and trying to build an audience, try publishing a video on YouTube three or more times a week if possible.

A consistent schedule with multiple videos per week can quickly elevate your channel in the algorithm.

This will enable your channel to do well in the algorithm. It will also create a library of content that helps viewers navigate from one video to another. Thus extending your watch time and providing a reason to subscribe.

  1. Build your videos around a single keyword or topic

For the best results, build your video around a single topic or keyword. Marketers that do not know SEO may skip this important step to rank videos. But if you want your videos to rank top, you must include them.

Use a keyword tool, such as KeywordTool.io, which is specific to YouTube, to find the most searched keywords in the niche you want to target.

It is important to choose your keyword before creating your video content. It will help you gather the best information about that specific topic.

It will also help you keep it in place naturally throughout the video so YouTube understands it when closed captions are added.

Once you’ve chosen a keyword, check out the videos that currently rank for the topic to make sure you’re on the right track in terms of intent.

Also, always optimize your title and description. This will help you generate more search traffic using YouTube SEO.

  1. Develop a sustainable video production workflow

You might produce Oscar-worthy short films and videos. But if each one takes six months to produce, your videos won’t grow your YouTube channel.

So whatever kind of videos you want to make, choose content that you can produce and develop regularly.

Also, consider ways to streamline your production process. This can be setting up a studio, creating an editing template, or hiring assistants or a production team.

  1. Recycle existing top-performing content

Of course, the best way to grow your YouTube channel is to create and distribute great content. Some of your best videos can be made from engaging, valuable, useful, and actionable content that you already have.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, people watched 4 billion hours of “how to” videos in just one year. Many people turned to YouTube to find answers and tips during this period.

Problem-solving content for your audience is also a great way to drive traffic.

Perform a content audit to identify the blogs, guides, and other high-performing pieces you have already.

Also, consider how to repurpose them to create relevant and engaging videos. Remember that the most successful YouTube videos are one to five minutes long.

  1. Start each video with an intriguing hook

How you engage viewers will depend on you and your content. When the video is about a project of any kind, show the result first. A stunning result will get people more interested in seeing how it was achieved.

This is a brilliant method for DIY and makeover videos.

Cute Girls Hairstyles, for example, always begin by displaying the final result before explaining how to create a hairstyle.

YouTube DIY video example Stories are another way to pique viewers’ interest, as stories are hardwired into humans.

People will stay for a second to see what happens when your video starts with a story. Plus, personal stories warm the presenter’s heart and can serve as a useful bridge to more complex themes.

Michael from VSauce is an expert at opening his videos with an intriguing story or idea that leads to the subject matter.

You may have noticed YouTubers creating intrigue by starting with a story or something completely off-topic. They will then link it back to the topic.

More so, when you already have a large audience who trusts you, this tactic works best.

  1. Engage with Your Audience

It’s important not to overlook the fact that YouTube is a social media channel, and therefore requires social interaction.

You’re missing out on a trick by simply uploading videos without inviting comments and discussion.

YouTube rewards channels with great engagement. This includes the overall time spent on the channel, watch time, likes and dislikes, and most importantly, comments.

If possible, respond to every comment and encourage users to engage with audio/visual prompts. You can also take the time to visit other channels and engage, whether it’s a similar brand to your own or simply one that you admire.

Don’t always have the habit of waiting for the audience to first take the initiative.

Post questions or comments that can increase engagement. You can ask relevant questions about the content or ask what content they would like to see more of on your channel.

Don’t forget to thank people for sharing on YouTube and other channels. To keep a detailed track of YouTube’s key engagement metrics, consider using a social content distribution and engagement dashboard.

Conclusion

There are several effective ways to grow your YouTube channel, you must develop YouTube content with your viewers and the algorithm in mind.

Another way to grow your YouTube channel is to have a website. It is very important that Youtube content creators have a website.

For viewers, ensure that your thumbnails grab their attention and deliver what you promise. Starting your videos with a strong hook is a great way to start. Editing the content to keep it interesting is also important.

In general, you want to create an experience that keeps viewers watching.

Fortunately, the YouTube algorithm also factors in landing clicks and keeping viewers interested to increase the visibility of your videos and, therefore, your channel.

That might not be true because there are still a lot of people who do not have a Facebook account. If you are one of those people who do not have a Facebook account and you would like to sell on Facebook, you have to first create an account.

Start With The Unwanted Items in Your House

We all have items we no longer need or use. Check around your house and put such products for sale on the marketplace. It might be a book, children toys or even chairs. It might be anything. Most times we have stuff we no longer need and think nobody will ever want them. We are often wrong because something that is of no use in one person’s eye is valuable for another person.

I remember selling my son’s old bike on Facebook. He outgrew the bicycle and instead of keeping it in the garage and taking up space, I put it up for sale on Facebook and someone bought it.

Join a selling group in your area

This is by far the most important tip for selling successfully and making money on the Facebook marketplace.

You might have probably heard about Facebook selling groups. These are different from the general Facebook marketplace. The good thing about Facebook selling groups is the fact that you can reach thousands of people free in one post.

Most towns and cities have Facebook selling groups that someone created. Depending on how big the town or city is, some towns or cities have multiple Facebook selling groups.

Join as many as possible selling groups in your area. Whenever you want to list a product for sale, Facebook usually gives you options to either list only on the Facebook marketplace or to also list in the selling groups you already joined. I joined a lot of Facebook selling groups in my area so I usually post in all the Facebook selling groups I joined. This enables me to reach a lot of people.

This image below shows how Facebook was giving me suggestions to list the product I want to sell in multiple Facebook groups I already joined.

How to join Facebook selling groups

In the search bar on Facebook, type the name of your city or town. For example, let me assume you live in Gloucester.

As shown in the image below, you can type ‘Gloucester buy and sell group’. Lists of existing buy and sell groups will come up.

Top tip: join groups that have a lot of members in them.

After selecting one of the groups, you can click on the join button in blue as shown in the image below.

You will be notified in your Facebook account if you have been accepted into the group by the group administrator.

Some groups accept you very quickly while some take a few days. Some will make you answer some basic questions before accepting you to the group.

Once the moderator of the group accepts you, you can start posting products for sale in the group

Create a Selling Group For Your Area

If you can play the long-term game and really interested in selling products on Facebook, you can create your own Facebook Selling Group which you will be the main administrator of. It does take some time before the group will rank.

If you are consistent in posting valuable information in the group, Facebook will start suggesting your group to people they think will be interested in joining.

It will not be an overnight success but if you are consistent your group can become big and you can monetise the group properly by giving people in the group valuable information.

How To Put Up a Product For Sale on Facebook Marketplace

As of the time of writing, it is free for anyone with a Facebook account to list a product for sale on Facebook.

You can follow the process below to list a product for sale on the Facebook marketplace.

  1. Click on Facebook Marketplace icon

2. Click on sell

4. Depending on what type of product you want to sell, click on either items, vehicles or properties for sale or rent.

3. Fill in the important information about the product you want to sell. The most important information are description, photos, and price.

After that, click on next and you will have a screen where you can select as many selling groups as possible where you want your product to be available for sale. Marketplace would have been automatically selected for you.

The final step will be to click on publish and your product will be available for sale on Facebook.

Your product will be available for sale as long as your product is not a product prohibited on the Facebook marketplace.

The described steps above are if you are using a mobile device to create the listing. However, it is a very similar process if you are creating it on a desktop.

Final Thought

You can put your used or new products for sale on Facebook. People are earning a living by selling products on Facebook.

It is free to create a Facebook account if you don’t have one. Selling on Facebook is free for anyone with a Facebook account.

Facebook is trying hard to compete with established marketplaces like eBay, Amazon, and Etsy. Now is the right time to use the opportunity available on Facebook to earn some extra income.

As there is so much competition between online businesses and companies, a user-friendly website goes a long way to outmatch the competition.

Best side hustles after work

Have you ever wondered about the best work from home side hustles you can do after your day job work hours?

In this post, I will take you through some of the best side hustles that will help you earn extra income while you are still in full-time employment.

One of the reasons why a lot of people don’t consider starting a side hustle is because of lack of time. We actually have more time than we think. However, starting a side hustle requires a high level of discipline. This means you have to sacrifice in some cases to carve out time.

Most of the side hustles I am going to discuss below require time commitments and some of them will not earn you money immediately. Thinking long-term is very important. If you can make a long-term commitment, you will be surprised how income from your side hustle can overtake what you earn from your day job.

Let me use myself as an example in terms of finding time for your side hustle. I have a full-time job, I am married with two boys. Yet, I am still able to commit to my side hustles. How have I been able to do it?

Think about the gaps you have during the day and use the time wisely. For example, after I return from my day job, I have few free hours in the evening. I commit this time to my side hustle. As well, waking up early can be a game-changer for you.

Before the kids get up in the morning, I am already up. I have been able to carve out a few hours for my side hustles. You have more time than you think. You will need to sacrifice some activities that do not add any significant value to you. One of those activities is entertainment. A human being can survive without entertainment.

I am not saying completely cut off entertainment, you can reduce it a bit.

I used to watch most live football matches on tv, nowadays because of my side hustle, I only choose a few games to watch and relax. It’s not that I’ve given up my love for football completely but I simply reduced the number of games I watch.

Selling online

There are lots of platforms available where you can sell physical and digital products online. The likes of Amazon, eBay, and Etsy have opened up their platforms for anyone interested to register and start selling their products.

The great part of selling online is that you have access to thousands if not millions of customers. Selling online has a lot of advantages over brick-and-mortar physical shops.

There is no cap on how much you can make by selling online. It just depends on how much work you can put in. You can definitely make between £1,000 and £5000 monthly if you get your strategies right.

Please note that the money you make is not immediate. It takes time and a lot of work.

I have written some articles about how to sell on Amazon. You can read by clicking here.

Website Testing

You can get paid for testing websites and mobile applications.

Big companies and brands don’t launch their website without first testing them.

To ensure their applications are user-friendly, they test them first before pushing them out to customers. Also, whenever there are new features for an existing application they need to be tested before being pushed out as an update.

This is where you come in. There are websites where you can register and if you are accepted, you can start making money for testing web applications.

All you will have to do is use the website or application and give your honest opinion and experience.

You can earn up to $10 for each hour you spend testing websites.

Websites like UserTesting and UserBrain will pay you for testing websites.

Tutoring

You can tutor people online and get paid. The great thing about online tutoring is that the internet makes it possible to tutor people outside your location. You might be in the UK and tutor someone in the US or China.

A very good example is a ‘language tutor’. You can use platforms like Zoom, Skype, or Google Meet to do a video call.

There are a variety of subjects and areas you can choose when considering tutoring.

You can sign up with agencies that can connect you to clients. Websites like Brainfuse, TutorMe, Tutor.com, or Skooli can help you find clients. With this, you can start earning some money from tutoring.

Freelancing as a side hustle

Freelancing

One of the lessons we’ve learned from the pandemic is that some type of work can be done anywhere as long as you are connected to the internet.

You can make yourself available on websites like Upwork, Fiverr, or other freelance marketplaces.

You can either learn a new skill or take advantage of the skillset you already possess.

For example, my day job is data analysis, I am an advanced Microsoft Excel user. Also, I am highly proficient in using SQL servers and very good at writing SQL scripts. If I have spare time, I can register on a freelancing website where people who need work done in my area of expertise can find me. When I do the work I will get paid.

It’s a great way to engage your spare time after work.

Everyone is good at something that someone else needs help for. What skills do you have? Are you good at writing, you can write for people and get paid. Are you good at art? Maybe your voice is great, you can offer voice-over services.

It’s not only about something you are passionate about. Earning money is about solving a problem. If there are problems you thinking people will need solving, you can acquire skills in that particular area and help people solve the problem.

Once people are happy with your services, they will have no problem paying for the service you render.

Get paid for driving

Humans love convenience. And it is becoming easier to live a convenient life nowadays. From shopping to driving and even cooking, people are now more than happy to let others do it for them.

There is no shame in using your car to serve other people by driving them around. You can get good pay by doing this.

One of the most popular ones is Uber who will help you to get customers that need your service. You can register with Uber and find spare time after your day’s job to earn extra income.

There are also delivery services like Amazon Flex which is like a courier service. Ecommerce is now very popular worldwide and dispatch/delivery companies always need more hands in delivering products people bought online.

Content creation flow diagram

Content Creation

The world is now a global village thanks to the internet. One of the ways humans have been able to connect with one another through the internet is by creating useful content that helps another human being.

It is now very easy to share your work with the world through the internet. If you are passionate about a particular topic. You can start writing about it and put it online. Just the way you are reading this article on abundanceaware.com, there will be people who will be interesting in reading what you put out.

I have to say that the content you put out needs to be something people will find useful. It should not be about you but about people who will be consuming your content. Your content has to solve a problem.

The two major ways to share something with the world are through writing and video. It is important to mention that you will not earn money immediately by just posting information online. However, if you consistently put out useful information online, it will get to a time when you will earn some money for your effort.

Some people now do content creation full-time and earn their living as content creators.

A good example of someone who is in the business of content creation is one of my mentors, Ken Okorafor. Ken is a blogger at The Humble Penny. He also has a YouTube channel where he teaches people about how to earn extra income through side hustles and also stock market investing strategies. Ken’s mission is to help people become as financially independent as he is.

Ken also has a platform called Financial Joy Academy (FJA) which I am a member of. FJA is a community of incredible people who are working towards becoming financially independent through sensible investing in stock and shares and also creating extra income through side hustles.

You can also earn extra income by starting a YouTube channel or a blog. After consistently providing value, you will surely earn money for your effort.

Final Thought

Starting a side hustle is easy, however achieving consistency with it is not. Because most side hustles do not immediately yield considerable profit, most people hide behind time. Let’s be honest, if you are guaranteed to make more than $1000 a month after starting a side hustle won’t you do it?

Starting a profitable side hustle alongside your 9-5 work is possible but it will take a little bit of investment on your part. Time and a little bit of money can set you up for impressive future earnings. Thanks to the vast amount of resources now available online, you might not even need to spend a penny to gain credible knowledge.

You stand to make a lot from your side hustle, do not let time and financial resources be your excuse.

There are more side hustles ideas in my 101 Side Hustles Ideas list.
